Most of the guys that installed halogens or higher wattage lights, ie 80/100w experienced the infamous Ford blinky blink syndrome. The wires in our old trucks can't handle the current draw. There was a tech article on the dark side that showed you how to upgrade your wiring and install relays in order to get the max volts to the lights. That also dropped the heat to the headlight switch. The headlights have a breaker switch that would cut power if it got too hot.

Keith, why don't we pirate that right up?

I installed the relays and it hasn't given me any slack yet. I like it.

I read this "same" article in Hot Rod Magazine and marked it as a high priority thing to do. Now that I've read your post I'm going to order the kit and put it in my '68. You could do the same thing by procuring some relays out of a junkyard dog but, I believe I'll opt for the kit. I'll post some results when I get her done. Just now I have to get the factory oil pressure gauge to working.

How much is a kit and what does it include? I had some relays (forgot what I paid) and I have little spools of wire, so the cost was minimal.

I think I paid $30 - $40 for the two relays, spades, wire and shink tube when I did mine.

Hey Heep,
Did you use fuses in your set up? If at all possible could you post some pictures?

No fuses, just a couple relays. I will PM you an article I used.
