I have a 1970 Sportcustom, two tone paint job, two tone tailgate. It has the small tailgate trim panel, with the stainless steel surround that lines up with the taillight surrounds.
My question. Anyone have a diagram on how to get these pieces back on the tailgate? I have a body assembly manual, and I bought a package of tailgate clips from NPD. Starting to think I got the Ranger or XLT tailgate kit instead of the fasteners I need.
Has anyone done this? Does anyone have a good diagram or set of written instructions? How about fastener part numbers or amount of each type of fasteners?

Look in the Dennis Carpenter catalog....there are good diagrams in there for many of the trucks....or look at the LMC catalog...on of them has good diagrams...just a suggestion...hope you get it back together! Wish I could afford to replace all of the trim on my 69 Ranger... BIG $$$

Yeah, this stuff is expensive. I've been buying used and reusing my old trim as much as possible.
I think it might just rivet in place, but figured there had to be more to it than that.

What trim parts are you having trouble with? I looked in the LMC and Dennis Carpenter books....DC has a pretty good diagram...I think you can download the catalog from their website.... www.dennis-carpenter.com I think.
