Well, a few weeks ago the gal got rear ended and her car got totaled, so we've been in the market for a new (used) one. We have been looking for something that gets mileage, is stylish, and she can put the stroller in easily, plus has good rear seat room for the rear facing car seat. With a cap of 10k and the credit union only offering full loan value on vehicles 2005 and newer it was a tough find. She had to have a sunroof and I had to have american with under 75k on the clock. After an exhaustive search, I finally found this:
Yep; it's a chebbie. It's a 2006 HHR 2LT to be exact. She wanted me to go see it and I was reluctant, but I went anyway and to my surprise I really liked it. It's loaded up with heated leather, sunroof, power everything, pioneer 6 disc stereo with factory sub, running boards, remote start, 17" alloys, the bigger 175hp 2.4L, and only 60k on the clock, all for $2300 under retail! Plus I think the look has a lot of character compared to a cookie cutter SUV or minivan.
Sorry Ford gods, I actually like this thing....

Once in a while, as long it isn't YOUR daily driver, the Ford Gods are willing to turn the other way. If you just explain to them that its for the gal, they'll understand.
Besides, for a Chebbie, its not all that bad.

My DD is a 1999 Plymouth Grand Voyager. But the wife has a 1998 Windstar, so it balances out.

Thanks guys! It actually is pretty fun to drive. I wish Ford built something retro like it that served the same purpose. It's about the nicest thing I've ever bought, and she's thrilled with it.

They do...its the "Edge." Thats their answer to the "retro" market.

i thought it was a PT crusier. in order to please the gods you must offer up a burnt sacrfice of a chevy or dodge if you have to. so get a calviler and set fire to it. to give peace to the world.

Re: The Ford gods are frowning upon me...
Nope; I knew my friends might take away my "man card" if I bought a PT Cruiser so we didn't even look at those. Honestly we wanted something with a little more cargo area. Plus if choosing between chebbie and chrysler I'll stick with the chebs, just personal preference.fordman wrote:i thought it was a PT crusier. in order to please the gods you must offer up a burnt sacrfice of a chevy or dodge if you have to. so get a calviler and set fire to it. to give peace to the world.
If one burnt Cavalier will bring peace to the world, I'm on it!!!
Believe me, if I could have found an Edge in my price range I would have been all over it. I like those things...old_mare wrote:They do...its the "Edge." Thats their answer to the "retro" market.
