Since I started this thread I will add my new toy. It is a 09 or 10 New Holland T1520 We all have a 4100 Ford. Happy with both. Here are a few Shots.

When I lived in WV, I helped farm a couple acres of cane and we made sorghum the old way in the fall.

My Father in Law would probably faint if he saw that 7hp Cub, he is in love with them and has about 20 of them. All different years and models but he doesn't have one like that and might commit murder to get one. I won't tell him about yours for your safety.
Some nice tractors on here.
I still have my dad's old 1967 Bollens Yard tractor that I rode on when I was a kid. It is in the old shed and I plan on rebuilding it one day

I have a tractor now! Picked this up last week. '68 Cub Cadet 125 with 36" snow blower, 42" deck, 42" blade, and an Agrifab sweeper. I paid $600 for everything and it all seems to work fine.

VERY cool! I love these old garden tractors. Last year I sold my 1969 Deere 140. It had the plow and a tiller and was the H3 model with three way hydraulics. Now my 1965 Snapper Comet 30 is starting to run rough so I'm looking for another vintage rider to cut the back yard. I would fix it but the brakes don't work and the clutch is about done too so it's really not worth the hassel. I have my eye on a John Deere 65 (28" cut, 3 speed, 5hp rear engine rider like the snapper), but the impracticle side of me is eyeballing a 1962 Wheel Horse 502...

We got to get your father in law hooked up on our website. We call it yellow fever.

This is all I have at the moment, I've had 25 at one time (not all runners though).
1961 Original, 1971 128 modified (stretched the frame 10", 14hp, mid mount grader blade and raised it up), 2072 Super, and a 1971 129 with Kwik-Way loader.


I have a couple pictures on my phone from plowing and discing the neighbors property. I'll get those posted sometime.

Well, I called the guy with the wheel horse and we chatted a bit. I was shying away from the 552 (I know I said 502 earlier; I was mistaken) because of it's size and my small yard, but he mentioned to me that he's got a completely restored lawn ranger he's also selling for $300. The ranger is only a 32" deck, so it would be a great replacement for the snapper. I'm going to look at it tomorrow!

Excellent! I wasn't attached to any brand when I started looking for my tractor. I was thinking Wheel Horse or John Deere. I only looked into the Cubs a few weeks ago because I found one close to me with the implements I wanted. I think any of the older, heavier tractors should be pretty good. I do like the idea of shaft drive on the Cubs though.

Well, I got the Super C home Friday and was able to do a closer inspection. So far it looks like the...

Carb is shot from water water damage,
2 sleeves are shot from water damage
one valve set is shot from water damage and possibly the entire head,
the rear is still locked up and I can't get to it because the bolt heads holding the cover on are rusted round,
the rims are shot from sitting in the wet dirt,
the gen and starter are shot from water damage,
the battery box is like paper mach'e from rot,
the steering wheel pedastal is rotten arong the base from wetness and field mice nests,
the breather is rotted out,

BUT! the radiator holds water and the gas tank is solid. Looks like I got a free gas tank and radiator. Now to find a tractor to go with 'em!

Well, I bought the Wheel Horse! It's rough around the edges, but I couldn't pass it up. The asking price was $300 but when I looked doubtful he said "How about $200?" I offered him $175 and loaded it up. Here is my "completely restored" (according to him ) 1965 Wheel Horse Lawn Ranger L-156:


It needs a whole lot of piddly stuff fixed, but the good is that the original 6hp Tecumseh has been rebuilt and it fires right off, it has new ag tires, plus it cuts good.
The bad (so far) is that it's got bolts where pins should be, pins where bolts should be (all of which are the wrong size), worn as heck front wheel bearings, a loose throttle cable, no seat upholstery, and a worn jackshaft bearing. I cut a bit with it yesterday for about 15 minutes and in that time the steering wheel fell off twice and the muffler came off three times. It will be neat once I get it all straightened out and done right.

Cool old tractor for sure. You have to get some padding for that seat! For $175 I think you did OK. I like the vertical stack.

Yeah, my back already hurts from it! I think I did ok too. It needs attention but nothing real expensive. Just nuts and bolts and a tweak here and there.

Well i don't have any pics but i'll take some, i'm in the process of restoring a 1969 John deere 4020 and a 1956 420 both are in my shop and am close to getting the 4020 fired off after a complete rebuild. I just got the injector pump back from the shop.I will post some pics soon.
