Re: hide away record player
That record player (Highway Hi-Fi) sounds like a fairly good idea, assuming you have smooth roads, until you find out that the records played at 16 2/3 RPM. So, you could not play regular 45 records on them. You had to buy specific records from Chrysler and no one wanted to do that.

yep do it all the time when my friends come over who are deprived of the great sound of records, just to show em how they work.fordman wrote:did you ever run your 33 1/3 on 45 speed?

Re: hide away record player
I had an old record player that had 16 2/3, 33 1/3, 45 and 78 rpm settings. I still have a stack of 33 1/3, 45's and old 78's and even a few old Edison cylinders. I dont have a record player now to attempt to play them on. Anyone remember the thin flexible plastic records they used to put in magazines and cereal boxes where you had to punch it out of the page and lay it on a real record so it was stiff enough to not let the needle stop it from spinning? Im showing my age huh?
