I'm going to see if this works. I had the machinist at work mill down my spot weld bit from 3/8 to 1/4", so it would fit in an extension. We'll see how well this works, hopefully it doesn't break! This should help get into those spots that the drill won't fit in.

I talked to the guys at Dennis Carpenter yesterday. Unfortunately, they say all of their mounts are the same. But, we did possibly come up with a solution. They have some that are not welded together yet, and they are going to send me those, so I can get them on the truck just right, and them spot weld them together myself.

Nice to know at least Carpenter is trying to take care of ya. The time or two i've talked with them they seem like good folks.

Got a little work done last night (despite my doctors orders, tendonitis in my right elbow). I'm patching a few spots where the cab mount spot welds were that I either drilled through (doh!) or were just weak. Not too bad for my first welding jobs on the truck!

The floor pans were actually in pretty good shape, I did most of the damage myself removing the cab mounts! Got the new cab mounts in Saturday, and did some mocking up yesterday. Since they were not welded together at DC, I was able to get them to fit perfectly, that gap at the upper part is gone. You can tell the difference from the first picture, when they welded them and the second, the ones I will weld.

Here are pics of the other side. The mount also sits flush with the floorboards, and also with the lip at the top part of the mount. DC should consider making it an option to sell these mounts in two peices, so they can be perfectly fitted to each truck!

Just an FYI, the set up for my spot weld bit works like a charm! I was worried about it wobbling, but it's nice and stable. Makes it easy to get at the welds in corners!!

Just gotta' say what a trooper for sticking with it! I've seen many members here do cab mounts through the years, but don't think I'd ever seen anyone go through so much to do them either.

I'll second it looks good any word on if DC was gonna sell the mounts in two pieces???

After I get them welded on, I'll take pictures, and send them to DC to see what they think.

Okay, got the mounts welded together,and the insides coated with POR-15. Then, got them all lined up, and welded to the cab. Came out perfect!!
