Re: New Engine for The "Speed Bump"!
Wow! That's pretty. Do you apply that right after paint or is there a waiting period like wax?

Randy,
I waited several weeks after painting to color sand it and then buff & polish.

SVT522 wrote:I finished my exhaust system this weekend. I cut and welded the tailpipes so that the 18-inch stainless tips exit out the side between the tire and the bumper at a 45-degree angle. They're 3-inch inlets and 3.5-inches at the tip. I used lap-joint stainless band clamps to secure the tips to the tailpipes. Next weekend I'm going to start plumbing the fuel system with AN-8 line and fittings.
Any more pictures of the tail pipes from the side? Did you start with any pre-made tail pipes or from scratch? I have very little room between my rear tank sway bar and lowered rear. I'm thinking of running out in front of the rear tires.

Re: New Engine for The "Speed Bump"!
I have a question about your beautiful build, what brand of hearders are you using and do they go over the first cross member? I like them and they look like they are routed like the stock exhaust, but I could tell for sure looking at the pictures. Thanks in advance, and again that is a beautiful build.

Re: New Engine for The "Speed Bump"!
Here's a link to the headers I used:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-6811HKR/
They go over the cross member between the radius arms and under the transmission cross member. I made a removable cross member that goes between the radius arms because it has to come out to install the headers...they are a tight fit. BobbyFord has a thread on here about his header ordeal with the Hooker's and I had the same challenges.

Re: New Engine for The "Speed Bump"!
I read BobbyFord's posting about the headers, I think I will look for something that is easier to install. He went to a lot of trouble and work to get them to fit and they are not that important to me. I'm just an old guy with an old truck that likes torque. Okay, now back to the real topic of this thread, your awesome truck build!

Re: New Engine for The "Speed Bump"!
FWIW, the smaller primary tube headers fit with no modification to the intermediate crossmember and run above the crossmsmber. If you have stockish heads then the smaller primary headers will work just fine. I know the Hedman headers bolt in with no mods.Kurt Combs wrote:I read BobbyFord's posting about the headers, I think I will look for something that is easier to install.
