Steering Wheel Install Kits...

Post by Nitekruizer »

I'm going to be installing an aftermarket steering wheel in my '69 F-100. My steering wheel is a Superior wheel which I've owned forever. It was in another project of mine (non- Ford). It's still in real nice condition so it would be a shame not to use it. It's a wooden wheel with three chrome spokes and, other than the wood, is almost identical to the Grant "Classic" style wheels.
I've narrowed it down to two kits both made by Grant. One kit says that it will fit F-100's made between 1965-74 while the other kit fits 1969 specifically. This is the potential problem. When I converted to power steering I used the column from a '73 F-350. The '73 is a 4-speed column and my '69 column was "3-on the tree" (I have a floor shift now). I removed the '73 turn signal switch and I'm using the turn signal switch from my '69. I can probably use the upper column bearing from either column.
I'm just wondering if there was something unique about the '69 columns or should the 1965-74 installation kit work? Thanks in advance.
