Re: dash knobs
I just got back from the junkyard and my son and I pulled the dash and trim panel from a 71. It took us about an hour to figure them out but we figured it out. If you look at each knob, you will see the "ring" or bezel surrounding the knob. Most of the knob "bezels" have a washer and a little notch in each of them. Including the ignition switch. We found that if you put a flat head screwdriver into the notch or slot of each bezel and then turned them counterclockwise, the knob mechanism can be unscrewed and removed from the dash. The knobs themselves can usually be removed if you turn them counterclockwise. They will screw off. This seemed to wored for us.

Re: dash knobs
to get the knob out of a headlight switch reach up under the dash and feel for the button on top of the headlight switch. push that down really hard and completely. i use a piece of metal like a flat scredruiver blade. it hurts my finger to do it by hand. then pull the knob all the way out.
the wiper switch has a allen head screw in the side of the knob. loose the screw with a allen wrench.
the ignition switch bezel just unscrews.

Jimmy, you might also have to wiggle it around a little while pushing down. I've squeezed til I bruised my fingertips and then when I got it out and did the "what the heck made this so hard" test, discovered that if you got it in just the right position, it pressed easily.

Re: dash knobs
The little trick on the light switch knob.....
1. Pull swich to full on position
2. reach up under dash and feel for button on top of swich oppisite side of the connector
3. with other hand, rotate the knob while putting pressure on the release button.
4. the button should push down when the flat portion of the knob shaft is in position.
5. pull knob out.
6. a.remove bezel with a large screw driver by turning slotted nut under where the knob was or,
b.remove nut holding switch in dash with socket

Re: dash knobs
I'm kinda resurrecting this thread, but can you guys please tell me how the wiper switch unplugs from the harness or how it comes out of the dash? I can't figure it out, and also how the wiper motor disconnects from the harness. It's the last thing left in removing my harness.
Thanks,
Brandon
