Bronco seats

Post by smilinsam »

Hey y'all!....just need some opinions, if you will. I've got a chance to pickup some buckets out of a '78 Bronco for 100 bucks. They are in good shape, but used and the wrong color for my Rangoon Red '72 250 Camper Special. I've been looking for a set of early Mustang buckets, which would have been a factory option, but they are extremely hard to come by or very pricey. The Bronco seats are low back and resemble the Mustangs but are a little better padded. I'm either going with the original seat which needs redone at a cost of 4-5 hundred or swap in these seats after being redone at about the same cost. Anybody have any thoughts, preferences....thanks!

There's a guy over in FTE who used a Corbeau bracket to mount the Bronco seats in a Dent. The same principles apply:

70 F100 LB 2WD, 360FE, E-Street EFI, TKO-500, 76K original miles.. follow my rebuild: The Lo-Buck Bumpside

Oh.. you asked about preferences.

I prefer 69-70 Mustang high back seats with a TMI sport seat conversion using OEM or repro brackets. TMIs' foam and upholstery have thicker bolsters and padding. This is the direction I'm going with my bump build (http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/11548 ... st13225123 ). I got the seats at a swap meet for $100 and a set of OEM brackets for twice that. The premium price was because the seller wouldn't separate them from the low back buckets he had so it took a bit to sweeten the deal. In the end, we both won.
