Italian leather

Post by Mctrick »

So you want to do something different in inside your truck. And leather would be great! But your thing; man this is going to cost a fortune. Not so! I wanted to do the head liner in my 69 F100 in leather and thought what was the most inexpensive way of doing it. So I was looking on Craigslist looking at leather coat. Thinking that I might find a leather coat in a color that would match the inside of the truck good or something? There wasn't . So I put in leather couch and found a full Italian leather in hunters green a perfect match. Cost $20.00. Have done the passenger door and the headliner so far, and have enough for the drivers door and the dash pad. If I was to buy all the yards of the leather, I don't even know the cost. The headliner look real good and the door too. There more than oneway to skin a mule.... Mike I try to post pic when done. :D

Great idea. I'm currently getting a new seat put in from a 94' F150 and I need to have it recovered but thought about leather until I heard the $800 price. Vynil is $350 for the whole seat while a hide of leather alone is $300.

I was thing of going to Tandy Leather company and getting some cowhide but at $150.00 - $300.00 yea it nice and new, but the cost. Then if you need it sewn there another expense. The couch I just took the back panel off and there was the foam and the piece for the headline. Used spray adhesive and tacked it down, also on door panel's. All the stitch work was done. If your looking to do this on the cheap, put and add on craigslist; saying you will pickup that old leather couch for free. So far I have $35.00 into it.

I've found plenty of leather couches on the curb that i've cut big panels of leather out of.

don't cut up the cushions however, it makes a mess... just the back and sides. That leather is usually in real good shape anyway.
