LMC seat cover opinion

Post by kaliona »

Thinking about purchasing this saddle blanket seat cover for my '67 until I decide whether to replace or reupholster the original bench seat. The dry, torn vinyl is ugly and scratchy. Anyone out there try this type of seat cover from LMC? Do they fit nicely? Are they sturdy? $59.95 seems like a good deal. Thanks for your advice.

I have used the saddle blanket seat covers on a couple trucks over the years. Some have the pockets on the front of them some don't. I got the ones with the pockets, nice for storing various items. I see the one you r looking at has the storage pockets  Check the local parts stores, ect. jcwhitney has them with gun scabbard, storage pockets and a Eagle, Bass, Buck, ect on them. Cost more for the xtras. Been years since I have purchased one.

I've had one in my truck for years now, the fabric is very durable and cleans up well in the clothes washer.
The ties that hold it in place don't last very long or hold it very tight...cover for me would shift around. I ended up heating an awl, burning holes in it along the edges and tying it to the seat frame with heavy cord, especially along where the seat bottom and top meet. With the cover secured and pulled taut, it's comfortable. Got mine at the local Schuck's (now O'Reilley's) 20 years ago, still looks good and hasn't worn.

I've had one for years too. Got it at the local parts store. Practically bulletproof.

My dad had saddle blanket covers in his 74 F100 years ago. I remember hating it. The fibers broke down and were real uncomfortable and scratchy. Seemed like I was always pulling fibers off my cloths when I got out. I don't know who it was made by, maybe it just got too much of the Arizona sun. I won't ever put one in my truck because of that one. I can't speak to the quality of the one on LMC though.
