Hey guys new here, I just picked up a 72 F250 that needs ALOT of work
Can any one post pics of their dash (restored hopefully) from the drivers side forward like your driving it i would greatly appreciate it !!!!
I haven't the slightest clue what is supposed to be in certain places, for exemplar next to the ignition there is a hole on the left hand side, also on next to the manual choke there is another hole close to the steering column. it was an empty hole but there was a cable and went to the engine compartment I'm not sure where it was supposed to go because the cable was cut about a foot from the firewall ..... any clues ????

Re: Dash Components
Left of the ignition is your head light switch. On the right of the steering colum is your choke and cigarette lighter. It sounds like the choke knob and lighter have been swithed around. Order of knobs and such going from left to right should be Headlight switch, ignition switch, steering colunm,choke,lighter.Fordguy85 wrote:Hey guys new here, I just picked up a 72 F250 that needs ALOT of work

Re: Dash Components
The "Wiper" switch should be just left of your steering column, between the "Ignition" switch and the column. You may have a "Cargo Light" switch just to the right of the column, then the "Choke" cable is to the right of that. The "Cigar Lighter" is furthest right.
If you aren't going to need the Choke cable, you can mount your Hazard "Emergency" flasher switch in that hole, like I did. You would need an "Emergency" switch from a '71 or '72 truck. To do this, you would have to unwrap the wiring harness and extend the White/Blue stripe wire by aproxiamately 3 feet. Then rewrap the harness.![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Dash Components
yeah i have the headlight switch and windshield wiper knob, but there is something on the far left , its small, smaller than the size of a pen left of the head light knob,
as far as the right of the steering column here is the order in my truck , steering column, mystery cable (because the dash does not look to be altered and it is not big enough to be the cigarette lighter ) then manual choke. the hole in the dash it was connected too was the same diameter as the cable I pulled out of the fire wall, and the weird thing is that cable looks exactly like the choke cable does

Re: Dash Components
The little hole in the far left lower dash is for the Brake Warning light.
I just noticed that your truck is a '72, so forget what I said about unwrapping the wiring harness and extending the White/Blue stripe wire. You won't have to do that. I had to because my truck is a '69, so the Hazard switch was in the glovebox. The "Emergency" flasher switch goes in the middle hole on the right, if there are three holes to the right of the column.

This may help a bit. The covered hole is for the Lighter.
This dash only has two holes right of the column.

Thanks that Helped ALOT actually, Im nicknaming my truck Frankenstein, Im starting to think the guy who had it before be just had a bunch of truck parts laying around and he put a truck together out of them
The story the guy gave me was that it was his fathers truck and his father had a lot of old trucks and he was a mechanic, his father died of brain cancer, so he got the truck, he was using it on his ranch for collecting wood and what not, but due to him getting open heart surgery and part of his lung removed he can no longer work on the ranch like he used to, I picked the truck up for 1,000 but now that I own it and Im starting to dig into it, I'm really regretting spending that much on it, problem after problem, and now like i said I'm starting to find out a lot of the parts aren't from a 72, it has a 70 front grill, 72 tags emblems, 71-72 instrument cluster, 67-70 steering wheel, 67 tail lights , and thats just what i noticed so far, guess i should have done the research before i bought it instead of after

Re: Dash Components
Here is a pic of what I just put together. I am using the wiper on the gauge panel and the far right is the cig lighter. I ended up using 2 accessory plugs for future options like vertical take off and horizontal hover.
