My 1972 F100 seat has brand new upholstery!

Post by Maximus »

I went back and forth on whether to use a modern seat, or have the original restored... I went so far as to buy and install a 90's split bench, only to come to the realization that my little shortbed needed its factory bench back in there, and it needed to be redone right.
Just got back from the upholstery shop with new padding and a new set of skin. Vinyl selected is a factory ford color parchment to match up to my interior.
these seats just look so good when refinished! now i just have to figure out how to keep it clean!! it helps that I have a cummins to do any real work, so this truck is pretty much a weekend toy...

While the newer seat is probably more comfortable and the fold down center is nice with the armrest and whatever else that seat had, but this seat looks SOOOOOOO much better!

yea, the truck overall is so original it just didn't made sense to throw that modern seat in, and I'm very happy with the result.
The new padding in the seat is great too because i used to sink to the floor, it was sad...

That does look nice!
For keeping it clean maybe a clear vinyl cover?

Thanks Flyboy, im pretty happy with it. I think instead of a cover im just going to have to be a bit overprotective with it and probably carry a towel behind the seat to sit on if i end up going somewhere I might get dirty...

The upholstery shop is a small shop called "Pabros Upholstery and Detail" run and owned by Mr Pabros. He also uphostered the seat in my '55 chevy pickup, and equally nice work, I paid about $400 to have the seat reuphostered, but I have had other work done, and he is friends with my Father, I think he said a normal bench that needed padding and vinyl to a guy off the street would be in the 500-550 range? but I wouldn't hesitate to take the seats to one of my more complicated projects like my Caddy to him, he knows what he is doing.

Here is the only shot I have on hand of the seat in my '55, it is a Vinyl/Velour combo...
