Dealer installed a/c

Post by darren121671 »

Hey, guys, I just bought a dealer add on a/c for my 70 Ranger xlt. Does anybody know if I have to change my heater box? It looks like the evaporator is gonna hit my box. Any info on the deluxe dealer installed system would be helpful. Thanks.

is it one of these? http://fordification.com/tech/factory-AC.htm

The dealer kits had 100,000,000,000,000,000,000 variations in style and size (you can see some examples on that linked page). They were sourced locally and could be any make, any model, and just hung under the dash. Without pictures theres just no way to guess what you'll have to do on one of those.

I have seen pics of that style installed. You should be ok with it.

Or does anybody know if there is a difference between a 70 and 72 heater box. The a/c unit came out of a 72 and my truck is a 70. I really don't see how this unit is gonna fit. I haven't physically set the unit up to the dash yet, but just by eyeballing it I don't see how it's gonna fit.

i cant verify the heater box differences, but even in the 72 it would have been a tight tight fit between it and the box. Try sticking it up there and seeing where if anywhere you are hitting.

There is no difference in the 68-72 heater boxes, and even the 67 heater box is set up the same way, just different controls.

If that came out of a 72, then it will fit in your 70 exactly the same way.

When you get it installed, post some photos and tell us about it.

I didn't think there was any difference between the two years. Maybe this weekend I'll mock it up and take pictures. If I can figure out how to upload pictures.
