Turn Signal Switch or Cam Repair
I have a 67 F100 that has some sort of failure in the turn signal. The turn signal is "loose", there is no friction keeping the right turn on or resistance keeping the left turn off. Do I need to replace the switch or the cam? Is this common? Has anyone had success with an alternative fix?

Your best bet is to replace the whole switch I've done the LMC patch kit did not like it. Its a bit of a job but worth it.

Plastic switch assembly has a broken part. Easy fix, not too tedious. Horn ring twisted off on my 70, and that was the toughest thing to figure out. Good luck!

69 Ford is right in that post. My cam canceling cam broke due to age, and at first I tried the repair cam. After two repair cams, I ordered a new switch; it's really the way to go. Here's the pros and cons of the repair kit:
Pros - It's far less expensive than the whole switch.
Cons - The repair kit must be spliced into your existing wires.
There's limited space in the steering column, so wire connectors may not leave you enough room once you re-assemble.
A new assembly is definitely tricky to install, but well worth it. The hardest part (to me) was threading the wires down the column without damaging the insulation.

Thanks 69Ford Alpha Wave and one f250!
Alright it looks like replacing the complete switch assembly is the move. I'm looking on ebay and in LMC. Prices are ranging from $37-67. Im not seeing any brand names but I wanted to know if anyone has an opinion of quality from different brands or sources.

I think I have two that are in working condition. I am going through a power steering upgrade and have a couple extra columns. If your interested in a used one I'll check condition and get you some pics.

Thanks MAK I went ahead and ordered one from Ebay. Hopefully it is good quality, and holds up.

If you are going to go this far take the whole column out and repack the bearings with a good waterproof grease I use amsoil synthetic. I believe if you don't want to take the entire column apart "which can be a pain to put back together" You can at least have access the bottom bearing. I used a degreaser to clean the bearings in the column and packed them without removal of the bearing itself.BBFox wrote:Thanks MAK I went ahead and ordered one from Ebay.
