New member (door lock actuator rod question)

Post by Boostin »

Hey guys, my names Jon and ive been using the schematics on this site for years so i thought id sign up. Im a mechanic at a hot rod / motorcycle shop here in los angeles. Right now im putting together a 1969 f100 (on a 250 chasis it seems) in order to make some money on.
The issue im having is its missing the door lock actuator rods, the actual threaded rod that comes through the top of the door where the lock button screws on to. Ive been searching for a part number but having no luck, even in my shop manual. I was hoping someone on here has a part number or knows where i can get a couple of these rods. Thanks in advance guys, heres a picture of the truck by the way. Title and body vin says f100 but 8 lug axles and dana rear tell me other wise... :hmm:

Howdy!

I don't have part numbers for you, but I have a set of '68 doors out back. If you're interested, I can at least send you pictures with measurements of the lock arms. Maybe you could just fab the arms out of all-thread if you can't find a set. I frequent the salvage yards in San Diego when they have sales and there's usually at least one truck on the lot to pick apart, so you can probably find a set in your local salvage yard. I prefer the '67 doors as they have no "pop-up" lock inside the cab. The lock is actuated by pushing the door handle down, and is disengaged when you open the door to exit. No visible lock so people can't see at a glance if your truck is locked or not.

Let me know if I can help,

Joe

Thanks for your willingness to help Joe. I'll start searching salvage yards to see what I can come up with. If not I'll try to go with your all thread idea. Someone sent me this diagram that helped tons, it appears the rods are no longer available. I do like the idea of no visible door locks though, we 'll see what I can do.
