Redlight below the 50mph mark on my speedo

Post by HDxLoki »

This red light on my dash came on last night and ive never seen it before. Its right below the 50mph mark on my speedo and only comes on when my head lights or marker lights come on. If someone could help me identify what this light is that would be great! Thanks.

Some were Blue Some were Red. I have several speedometers with the two different colors. I think it depended on what plant your truck was built at. I can see the confusion because Red usually means something is major wrong. The comment above is correct it's just the high beam indicator. You could also change the color because it is just a piece of colored clear plastic taped to the back of the speedometer. Most likely it's ready to fall of anyway because the tape is almost 50 years old. If everything in your cluster is working it's not worth it trying to change.

Back in the day they all may have been red. My dad's 56 Cadillac's indicator was red (a red Indian head!), and the one on his 64 Pontiac may have been red (another Indian head).

The one on my 67 truck is blue (and VERY hard to see, especially in the daytime).
