Seat belt question
OK, I know that everyone is going to 3 point seat belts and that is great. However I am fine with my 2 point set and am curious about how some of the basic replacement lap belts compare to the stock belts. That is, are the ends compatible? The plastic covers on my belts (female ends) are disintegrating and in pieces however the retractors (male ends) work fine and the belts them selves are solid. Does anyone make a female end that fits the original belts. I know the colors will probably be different but for my Rancheros black is black and for my F250 I can dye the medium blue to match (?). Regardless the style of belt in my F250 is the same as was used in the big Fords of that time (just like my 69 Galaxie XL) while my 70 & 71 Rancheros have the smaller, almost GM style of female clasp. I am only asking because I would like to keep as much of my stock seat belt(s) as possible and all my searches have not came up with an answer regarding the similarity of stock vs replacement ends. Thanks guys.

Re: Seat belt question
NPD and most of the Mustang houses have the plastic replacement parts. The bumps and Mustangs shared the same belt set-up. I upgraded mine to the ones with chrome bezels and used their interior paint to match the red on my belts. They look brand new.

Re: Seat belt question
Thanks, I will check the Mustang vendors, but I figured they were the same as the 70-71 Torino/Rancheros. As I indicated my Rancheros are the small receiver ends and my F250 has the large ones (like the Galaxie). My belts are in good condition since I doubt they were used, it is the plastic covers (my F-250 Camper Special, Sport Custom has chrome trimmed covers that are breaking apart. I don’t mind having to upgrade to a complete new belt set (well actually I do since this pickup is lucky to get 2000 miles in a year around town and I can’t afford to drive it on the highway), but the actual belts have hardly seen the sun and are really nice. Even the labels. I can find replacement stickers for the button (2 are already gone) but not a complete cover and those are really all I need.
