One piece glass 1970 f100

Post by Mr-Dyslexic »

I know they don't sell kits. I know the door hinges are in the way. My questions and are both the hinges in the way or just the upper one? I haven't had my glass out but it looks like a pure flat piece with no curve. Is it a flat glass without any curver? Has anyone done a one piece glass before and is their any kind of write up?

I have done it. It is flat glass and only the upper hinge is affected. Unless you know how to fabricate and weld I wouldn't recommend you try it. I actually made the stock regulators work but I had to completely rework the arm and its angles; it was NOT easy. It works but is finicky. I purchased some power window motors that I am going to change to. I also used two extra doors to het the channel out of so I could have the ford channel all the way around and use one channel seal that I ordered from DC. Also, you have to do a lot of work in the part of the door where it angles from front to back. You can't just stick a channel in there. Trust me, there is a reason why there is no kit available. And the two companies that claim they have "kits" are full of ****. The vintage glass kit was complete TRASH!!!!!!!

Fabrication isn't a problem. I work on, build and paint hot rods for a living. Just put a one piece glass in a c10 and the kit was a pain but I love the look. So on my break I was staring at my truck and decided I'm going to put one in. So I thought I would do a little research on it before I start from trial and error. Do you have a write up on here I can work off of or do you have some picture of all the mods from start to finish you could email me? I am really interested to see you work and it would appreciated.
