Good day 69Ford,
Factory-correctness aside, I like the orange a little more; it seems easier to see, and looks more cheery.
'thought of adding a "poll" to this thread?

Re: White Gauges, Gauge Needle Paint
I used Flourescent Red on mine. I don't remember actually choosing red though. I think I just looked at the color of the lid and bought the paint that looked the closest to the original needle color, or what I thought was the original color. They were pretty faded.
I say go with what you like best. After all, you're the one who is going to be spending the most time looking at the gauges.

I like the orange the best, Seems to stand out a little more. I painted mine with finger nail polish and wish I had bought needle paint.
I wonder if anyone has tried to paint the stripe under the 70 ?
I've thought about trying it a few times but don't know well the numbers are on there and if they could be taped without peeling off with the tape

All I know for sure don't attempt to clean the numbers even with water the paint will come off destroying your gauge. Did ford use watercolor paints. I will try masking tape on a already destroyed gauge to see what happens and post. PS windex takes the numbers off best.

It's almost as if Ford made a paint out of lantern mantles...
I like the orange better.
