Ranger door panels discovery

Post by 67 StylesLide »

I was starting to install the exterior rocker moulding on the driver door.
Thanks to the "How to dissassemble a door" tech article I felt confident to pop off the plastic door panel frame.
Nice surprise to find the pretty painted steel panel underneath.
Funny tho, After the driver door I decided to do the passenger side. Different story there.
The driver door paint was clean but the passenger door had this sheet of hairy "jute" on there with glue from hell
Took me dang near all day to get the glue and jute off while trying to not take that paint. Finally got it tho.
I tried several chemicals but found common paint thinner to work about as good as anything.

Padding was there to prevent the door panel from rattling against the door shell. Maybe your truck was assembled on a Friday by those detail-oriented UAW workers. :D
