OK I replaced the vent window seal on the driver side a long while ago (don’t remember for sure but think it is was a set from DC). The old rubber used to be hard as a rock and you couldn’t hardly move the vent at all. However, now I have an annoying whistle coming from the inside top 2 inches of the rubber when the vent window is closed. Even a light pressure from my finger stops it. The window itself closes tight so it isn’t the lock/vent handle. You cannot stop the whistle by pushing on the bottom of the vent glass, only by applying the slightest pressure to the rubber along the inside top. Also I probably need to readjust the large window because when I go to roll it down I can literally push it down with my hand easier than cranking it. It was not that way before I “fixed” it. I have not replaced the passenger side yet but it works fine and is quiet. The only other wind leak is the driver’s side vent behind the parking brake. I want to figure out one leak at a time though.
Did I screw something up when I replaced the seal or will everything sort itself out when I figure out why the window is wrong? I tried to replace all the bolts where they were according to the wear/paint marks and thought I had the vent seal right when I installed the rivets. I have tried loosening the top screws and readjusting the top/front of the assembly (not much adjustment there though). Do I need to redo the rivets?
By the way since the chrome covering was falling off the door panel trim I pulled all the chrome skin off and painted it white to match the blue and white outside paint. I used regular plastic bumper paint and it came out looking all right. I wish someone would repop the door panels.

Re: Vent window whistle
When I got mine from DC several years ago they were sold as a pair and there was a left and a right. Can't remember if you could reverse them or not but is this a possibility? From memory I think the upper hinge is just a flange with a rivet being the hinge Is this loose or bent?

Re: Vent window whistle
Mine also came as a pair. I am fairly certain they came from DC because I bought a new turn signal harness at the same time. I do not believe they can be switched because they are molded with a flat area for the window to seat against. The vent window components are all tight. Including the rivets I replaced that hold the seal in place. I have tried to loosen the screws on top to see if I could move anything but no luck. The area where it leaks is so small I have thought about using black tape as a shim between the glass and the rubber.
I still to pull the door panel and re-adjust the window so it rolls down right. Maybe after I get that set correctly the leak may also go away.
