1992 E-150 Speedo

1992 E-150 Speedo
I have an 1992 E-150 with a bazillion miles on it. A couple of months ago I disconnected the battery cables to clean them up, and my speedometer quit working! I'm mistified as to why. Any ideas?

This may not be your problem, but it was on my Mom's 87 Buick.
Her speedo stopped working. I unplugged the elec. feed to it, that was under the hood. Cleaned the connector up real good, plugged it back in and the speedo worked.
At first I looked for a cable, then due I came to my senses.
