Replacing vinyls with steel

Post by Nkreigh »

I am attempting to replace my vinyls with steel door panels. There are holes in the door that align with the holes in the steel door panels but the holes in the door seem to be too large? The door holes are round so it does not seem they would have a speed nut or some type of insert?

They are designed to accept a "clip" that fits the screws that hold the panels in.

Thanks, great.
You do not by any chance know where I can find the clips?
I have tried LMC NPD.

When i lived in Bakersfield CA. there was a shop that specialized in fasteners and they carried that sort of thing......you might try an 'old school' hardware store they might have them if not the bone yard is your best bet.
If you cant find them locally let me know how many you need and i will pick them up on our next trip to the bone yard there are usally bumps and dents there

I think part number 12 is the correct part although this is a different door. They did not show this part on our door not 100% sure. At 2$ apiece plus shipping and at least 15 per door kinda spendy for these fasteners. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fb/full.aspx?Page=18

Head down to your local Autozone and hit up the fastener trees for "speed nuts", "U-clips, or "J-clips". You'll need to measure the distance from the edge of the flange to the hole.....

Or visit http://www.clipsandfasteners.com
