I have a 68 without A/C. I understand that I can open the kick panel vents to get outside air, but am curious if I can also use the heater. If I have it on "low" and "heat," will I still be getting heated air? I'm thinking so, but just want to confirm. The kick panel vents work well when driving, but not so well when stopped.
Thanks

Re: Outside Air
All the top lever (Low, Temperature, Warm) does is open and closes or partially closes a valve letting engine coolant flow through your heater core. Leaving the lever on Low should stop the coolant flow or greatly reduce it. The lower lever just directs airflow. So turning your fan on with top lever on low will draw air from the Right vent without heating it as long as the lower lever is on heat or defrost. If you are still getting warm air on low try adjusting the cable on the valve to fully close it.

Re: Outside Air
Interesting question. I do not know and I can't experiment now since it is like 9°F today.
Perhaps it tells us in the owners manual?

Thanks for the information. Trying to prepare for summer, as we can get pretty warm in Sacramento.

Re: Outside Air
my face driving my bump in the heat .
I just got ahold of an operators manual off eBay.
Contains some good info I recommend to anyone.
It did say that the temp. lever should be all the way on low and when it's in that position should stop the heater core from getting heated rad. fluid in it. But I guarantee you it'll still feel hot even with the valve fully closed. Sun don't play.
So I second the valve adjustment. Make sure it's fully closed so your heater core doesn't get hot fluid.
