Heater Cable

Post by 68rookie »

How hard is this to get at? I think the valve is old and sticky and I should of checked before I started messing with the controls. Pretty sure I broke or broke loose the cable the runs the bottom lever in this pic. Truck has factory air so I'm assuming this is going to fun?

Mine doesn't have air conditioning but I've taken the heater controls out and tried to lubricate the cables with graphite. It's kind of a pain but I'm glad I did. The control for off/heat/defrost is kind of primitive and doesn't work smoothly. Mine broke and I welded it with a tig welder. I push the lever in and slide it to change from off/heat/defrost. I'm worried about breaking it again so I keep it on defrost all of the time and only use the top lever and the fan to control the temperature.

Good luck!

This might shed some light on what you're up against. http://www.fordification.com/tech/image ... -incab.jpg Here's a photo of where the cable connects. http://www.fordification.com/forum/down ... &mode=view That bracket on top is where it's clamped and hooks onto that lever straight across from it.
