I know this is not a flathead forum.
But I just picked one up and I am wondering if anyone knows about a flathead forum similar to this one.
This has been such a wealth of info and I hope there is a similar forum for flatheads.
Thanks.

Re: Flathead question
There is a forum called the Ford Barn you could poke around in. I own a flathead as well, it's stuck of course but could easily be made to run. In this area there are shops that will rebuild these engines but be careful with who you hire and get references about their work.

Re: Flathead question
Ford Barn is good. there is also the H.A.M.B , I wouldn't be surprised if a few people here have run across them as well. myself personally, might be putting together a 8BA with a Merc crank for my 48 2dr sedan. fun stuff.......

Re: Flathead question
1972hiboy that would be so cool to put a Merc crank in your flathead. Does it change the displacement to 255 or do you have to change the pistons to? We have a flathead person in town here that has a working model of every flathead that was made from 1932 to 1953. The only thing he needed was a coil for his '32. Sadly he is in a nursing home now, I hope his mechanically inclined Grandkids appreciate his massive collection not only of the flatheads but oil field and other stationary engines.

Re: Flathead question
Yeah putting merc 4inch crank and merc pistons make a 239 a 255 rods are the same. My particular block has been punched out a bit already. so its somewhere over that. merc pistons typically had three rings.
