Well boys, I f'n sent her a little too f'n hard!
So as the title says, I have no gears on my 70 F100, 302 with C4 automatic. Basically, I took off from a stop, floored it and I heard a loud bang and lost gears. Only thing I can do is put it in park. I had plenty of trans fluid.
1.) What is average amount I can expect to rebuild?, 2.) Is it worth it, should I swap for a 4- 5 speed? 3.) What auto w/ overdrive can I use?
Thanks

1ST make sure the drive shaft isn't spinning when it's in gear. to rule out a bad rearend.
and make sure you didn't break a u joint.
If this is a daily driver in traffic " I " wouldn't take out an automatic and put in a stick.
I believe an A O D can be made to work fairly simply .

Re: No gears after hard acceleration
Sorry, took me a minute to reply. I did check the drive shaft in gear, and it is not spinning. No broken u-joint. I removed flexplate access cover from bell housing and I didnt see anything obvious, no leaks, broken nuts, etc, gear shifter is connected to steering column. Aside from removing and opening trans, what else can I look at?cep62 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 7:05 pm 1ST make sure the drive shaft isn't spinning when it's in gear. to rule out a bad rearend.

The Yellow pages ! sorry
If you can put it in and out of park that means the linkage is working .
Pulling the pan and looking won't tell you much in my opinion . You might as well plan on pulling it out
and decide on a swap or rebuild.

I did that with mine back when I was 19. Sheared the yoke in the rear-end. I was sowi g out and dropped the clutch and POW. no more go. Seems that 31-10.5 mud tires have plenty of grip on pavement.
68 Ranger. 302 Clevor w/ 3 on tree, soon to have front disc brakes.
