Restoring a 1970 F250 4X4 Custom and the VIN is missing the paint code, would anyone have any ideas as to why a paint code would not be stamped at the time of the assembly?
From the research I have done I believe it is Ford Rangoon red.

Re: VIN missing color?
The absence of a color code could indicate the truck was ordered with a special color. Best way to find out what the original color is would be to order a deluxe or elite Marti report if you don't have any of the original invoices.

Re: VIN missing color?
Your data plate appears to have a special order number, so I agree with J, probably a custom colour. Paint was the most common type of special order, as many companies or utilities wanted their fleet to match. Marti will be able to tell you if it was a fleet order, my Lincoln was found to be a fleet order, and that shows up nowhere else.
Look for any traces of signage on your truck, also find out what your local utilities fleets were painted.

Thanks, that makes sense being a fleet vehicle.
