I have noticed comparing (72' F350 2wd with 68' F250 4wd)
1) 72' front frame horns are ending in the c-channel shape with the bumper brackets hard rivet on. While the 68' has a frame horn like the F100 (curved) but the bump brackets bolt onto the sides instead of onto the ends of the frame horns.
2) 72' has a 2 rivet frame mounted transmission crossmember and might be back farther 1/2" or so. While the 68' has a 3 rivets
3) 72' is pre drilled for the front 3 hard rivets for the front leaf hangers
4) 72' is pre drilled for the 3 hard rivet frame transmission crossmember frame mount, 68' is not pre drilled for the 2wd
(will add more differences as I go)
