I am very interested in the CV swap. I would like to see more pics of the mounting if you get a chance. Thanks.

That really turned out nice. There's a wrecked merc down at the farm and I was eyeing that front suspension and thinking how easy it would be to put in a street rod and here it is... The disc brake rear is going into the ranchero in the near future.

Here is the new bezel I threw together in about 20 minutes I will be taking some more aluminum to the local fab shop so they can cut the aluminum straighter so there is a perfect gap on all sides, I will use this as a template for the perfected one.

did you have to mod the gas tank at all or just the sending unit?

I know the CV crossmember has a couple guide pins sticking out of it. Is there an existing hole on the frame that you used for these pins to help line up/center the crossmember in the frame? Did the alignment shop have any problems aligning it?
Looks like a really neat idea. Much easier than swapping in a Mustang II clip...

The fuel tank is untouched since it is made of plastic I didnt want to mess with it although it would have been easier if I did though...... I think I just had a custom aluminum sending unit made to fit. All went well and now its a factory like system that is easy to service like factory.
As for the crossmember I just put the center of the wheel bearing in the same place as the original wheel bearings. I then marked it up and drilled my holes. None of the original holes lined up so I had to drill everything but it was pretty easy. This swap could be done in a weekend by a competent hands on kind of guy with a good torch or plasma cutter and a decent drill and a small welder.
I know this is gonna sound weird but I havent gotten an alignment yet. I know I know but I just havent gotten around to it even though I have about a couple hundered miles on it already. The truck handles very flat around the turns, drives smoth as silk on the roads and stays almost perfectly straight on the highway at speeds up to 95mph ( highest speed tested so far ) it doese have a very slight pull to the left but its just barely there. That pull could also be due to the road not being perfectly level. I have driven factory new cars with more pull to it than this thing has even with no alignment. I guess it paid off measureing 20 times and cutting once.

Yes sir it does,I am figuring roughly 30mpgs right now and its fast enough to beat an 06 cummins off the line and at highway speeds. I love this thing. I am going to enter it in a small car show of about 40 cars. I will be registering in the under construction category. We'll see how it goes.

Just need to throw my running gear under that thing!!! Love the pickup dude, great work so far. So how hard was that EZ wiring to wire in? Did you switch to a new chevy steering column?
