The picture submitted by Fordman is what I have. Yes it looks fairly simple but simple is what has gotten me in trouble.
I've tried to push out the pin that holds the Red and Green cogs. However it doesn't want to move. I'm afraid to put much pressure for fear I'll screw it up. I believe once it's out it would be then easy to re-set the numbers then replace the cogs one at a time. Agree or disagree????

I might add. My 70 F100 is not being restored to original. I'm taking the semi custom route.

Thanks

Bob

taking that out is where i have always gone wrong at. i can never get them back together to where they work properly so i end up trashing them. if i could find the one in the picture i would mess with it and see what else i can do with it. until then i would still use a drill on it to get it most fo the way to where it needs to be set at.

On the title for my 68 F100 the specs where is says ODOMETER readings etc it is marked EXEMPT so like they were saying, on some vehicles that turn over and create a discrepancy and what not then the state doesn't seem to worry about that, if they've already deemed it 'exempt' like that I don't think setting it back would hurt anyone

some states do write exempt in there and some don't missouiri does. kansas doesn't they do have the mileage written down but they also have exempt under that if it is not over a certain mileage. i think or maybe its the other way around. maybe if its over 100,00 miles it says exempt under it.

hmmm well here in Utah mine just says EXEMPT, no numbers at all, what i wanna figure out is how the guy registered his 68 as a 67 so he didn't have to mess with emissions lol

The speedo in my truck broke a couple years ago. I had a spare that I swapped in. Out of curiosity, I took apart the odometer from the spare to see about resetting it. When I took the thing with all the numbers on it out and took it apart, I could only get it to go back together with the same mileage that it was when I started. I put the numbers from the broken speedo in the spare so that the mileage would be original. That was pretty easy, but I couldn't figure out how to change it. I haven't messed with one of the F600/800 ones yet.

Resetting Odometer

Post by johnmix »

I have a 1967 F250 and I'm trying to reset the odometer... The threads above are a bit dated and it's still not clear to me how to reset the odometer. Any suggestions?
