I have posted much in this thread... well mainly because I havent done much to the truck but I still do use it. Took a little trip across town with my heavy smoker in the back. Rode just fine, I think I had my shocks set midway, no bottoming out or rubbing. Plus it always feels good when people give you a thumbs up while cruising down the highway.

JG, great build....truck looks awesome been following it I'm in the middle of mine right now with a 05 crown vic PI front and a 96 explorer rear into a 66 F100 SWB hoping for the best but since you have yours done already you might be able to help. Is there a certain degree where the radius arms of the vic front end should be set at? I've looked all over and cant find anything. I noticed your post that you said once you had it in place you just made brackets that lined up to the mounting surface...if its that easy I'm on the right track...

I couldnt find any specs or anything when I did mine so I did just what you said. LIned up and welded the brackets, probably not 100% perfect as I'm seeing inner tire were on the drivers side only. I should really take it to an alignment shop.CMH66F100 wrote:JG, great build....truck looks awesome been following it I'm in the middle of mine right now with a 05 crown vic PI front and a 96 explorer rear into a 66 F100 SWB hoping for the best but since you have yours done already you might be able to help. I have been looking to do this to a 67-72. Now that you have put the "c" notch in the rear, have you towed anything with it? I would love to do everything you have done but, I would still like to tow a small, light trailer. Would you trust this set up to tow?

I've loaded up the bed to the point it drops it few inches but I havent towed anything nor do I have a hitch. It depends on what you want to tow, if its something significant I would probably beef up the notch even more.

JG,
First of all great build!! Very talented work!
I have read your entire thread and I must say you have renewed my passion for my truck! I purchased my 1970 LWB in 2001 and I have been slowly getting "The Beast" done. after having two kids inthe last 5 yrs, I haven't exactly been burning it up in the garage. Couple that with life and the daily grind, and you have a disgruntled F-100 owner! Thankd for rekinding my passion!!
Sorry for the long post.
Craig

Great truck, and great thread. I just read the entire 19 pages. Have you taken the truck to get a front end alignment done yet? Issues there? Is the bolt pattern the same for the CV front and the Explorer rear?

What is the offset on the front wheels? Any rubbing issues?

Re: 72 F100 project, longbed to short conv, CV swap, 20s
do you have any steering issues with the current ride height? do you know what the rim offset is? I'm trying to set the ride height on mine but with the current rims I have i don't think I will have enough clearance.
Thanks in advance
