That's pretty bad, aren't they reproing these yet?

At Carlilse a lot of NOS grills were up around there, some higher. Restored were running around $500-700 for '64 Galaxy or Fairlane stuff.

I guess the dings & dents are included free :pout:

I'm with Jamie. I cant believe someone isint re-popping these. Seems to me like a large part of the market is left untapped.

Seems pretty high a price but something is only worth what somebody else is willing to pay for it. I didn't look that close at it and didn't notice the dings but even then if it was a NOS and somebody was building a high dollar 67-68 it must have been worth the price for them.
Kind of like the West coast Jr. mirrors I saw on evilbay a couple years ago that sold for $175. I had a couple sets and tossed one on there and they sold for $150 in a 3 day auction. Some of these hard to find parts are going to start bringing in a lot of money.
I have a 72 Maverick I want to fix up. 5 years ago I had a 74 and a 72 parts Maverick. I had to sell them both but back then you could get a 5 lug disc brake swap for $125. Now just the dics brake front end parts are going for around $250.
Everything is going up

Nope. The tooling was destroyed in a fire. I read about it somewhere, but I can't find it anymore. The 70-72 grilles are being reproduced, but not the 67-69s.
So if you find a nice one, snap it up!

I wonder if the painted grills are bringing a nice ammount? I have seen a couple around here that were mint, but never thought twiceabout them because they were the painted variety. . . .

yes, it's reverse engineering that way. and Carpenter did it once but i thinl thats the one that was destroyed in a fire as Flyboy 2610 pointed out.

And saddly the original gets destroyed when they make a new mold from it. Or atleast thats what the guy who sold his on ebay to Carpenter. He was told he couldn't get the original back on account the processess of molding a die for new repops would severly distort it.

Any good 67-69 grille, painted or bright, would be worth snapping up. Especially if you get a good price on it from a salvage yard. The painted would be good for chrome plating. I believe it was Sbairboy on here who did that and if you can afford it, that is the way to go. I am saving my good painted grille for that one day. Here is the link, http://fordification.com/forum/viewtopi ... 16&t=13034
and two of the pictures. I think it is worth the 750 dollars for sure.

I can't say $830 is an unreasonable amount to pay at all. I am not a fan of the 67-69 grills at all, but will be holding out for a NOS 1970 grill for my 70 when it's done.

Making a die to stamp the grills? Good luck with that. That die will cost you more than 100 nice bumpsides and you still need the machine to run it.

I had an all aluminum grill on my truck *snifle, sniffle* that is until My rag joint went out, and cut open a recently retired chp crown vic in half before ending up in an orange grove... I miss that grill...

Don't miss the orange trees though. They did more damage to my truck than the crown vic did... :hmm:

Now I have a steel one, that I am going to modify with an aluminum insert... Should look good when I'm done, and maybe shave a few pounds off the nose too. :D
I likes My FE I does...

The smaller dies we use out at work go in the 100 ton presses, and they don't make parts any where even close to the size of a grille.
The dies still cost around $100,000.
