does anyone have a wiring diagram for 73-79's . i'm interested in how the fuel switch works in these trucks and how i could adapt the switch to work if my truck had two working tanks.

I have a 79 F100-f350 electrical and vacume troubleshooting manual. I'll see if a pic of it will show up or I can make a copy of it in the next couple days. Gotta see if I can find what your lookin for.

re: wiring diagrams
What year switch ya got?
The '73 - '74 switch works just like our year trucks, it only switches between the two tank senders. You still had to manually turn the tank selector valve.
The '75 - '79 switch shows extra contacts so it can switch between the two tank senders and also switch the tank solenoid valve.
I'm just going by the wiring diagrams, it could be the same switch.
The switch used in our year trucks has extra contacts too so it could do the same thing if you removed the manual valve and wired in a solenoid valve.

"Are you gonna make it all 220?"
"Yeah 220, 221, whatever it takes."

I belive we did what Barry suggested:The switch used in our year trucks has extra contacts too so it could do the same thing if you removed the manual valve and wired in a solenoid valve.
We put an electrical valve in my buddys 73 and it was run off the switch on the dash. next to the heater controls.
I took pics of the wiring diagrams but they don't really show up to good so let me know it You want me to make copies because I dont have a scanner.
