Hi, I have a slight problem.
My instrument panel lights are not lighting up when I turn the lights on. My turn signals, and high beam indicators all work, but the panel lights for the gauges do not. I haven't got much experience with electrical, and I tried searching for a trouble shooting post (if I missed one please give me a url) so I thought I'd ask here. Does anyone know what sort of procedure I should take to find out how to fix it?
Thanks!

First step is to check the little two amp fuse in the fuse block. Next would be whether you have done any recent modifications to the wiring, specifically the dash lights or the cigar lighter.

another failure point is the resistor spring in the headlight switch that controls the dimming of the panel lights. If the spring has come apart the lights wont work.

You might also have two dead bulbs in your dash cluster. After all, they _are_ 45 years old!

Re: Instrument panel lights not working
Went through it and found issue. There wasn't even a fuse in the two amp slot so, I found a new fuse and made sure it had a solid connection. Still didn't work. Looked at a diagram and made sure everything in the path looked pretty good. Then took a meter to the lighting switch and the fuse box. Anyway, turns out the light switch wasn't making contact, so I put another one that I had laying around back in in its place. All is well.
