Anti-rattle kit...window fuzzies vs. rubber...What's right?

Post by mrtleavitt »

So I ordered a 4 piece anti-rattle kit from LMC the other day for a '72 truck. They gave me 2 fuzzies and 2 rubber pieces. I called and told them they mixed the order so they sent me another set free of charge. When I opened the replacement set today I had the same thing, 2 fuzzies and 2 rubbers. I thought 67-69 trucks had all fuzzies and 70-72 had all rubber pieces. Did they ever mix and match the fuzzies and the rubber pieces? Help me out here.

Here's a pic of a pair of 70-72 rubber pieces just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about for those of you not familiar with what I'm trying to explain. (It's the pieces that sandwich the window as it rolls up and down, where you would rest your arm with the window down)

I know the mounting holes are a little off between the fuzzie doors and rubber doors, heard of people trying to mount rubber on a 69 and had a hard time because the mounting hole are just a little off.
I think the rubber or fuzzie referes to the outside seal. I "think" all the inside are fuzzie, But not 100% sure.

EDIT: Thats what i get for typing slow, Your picture shows rubber on the inside so i guess im wrong

I am guessing you ordered the 67-70 kit. It doesn't matter because the rubber kit does fit your truck from LMC. I thought all the installation involved putting the rubber pieces on the outside and a fuzzie on the inside. I order the 71-72 kit for my 67 and 70 and they fit my trucks fine. Fuzzies inside, rubber out.

Personally, I have never seen the rubber on the inside like that.

I know for a fact i ordered the '72 kit, I double checked the catalog as well as one of the customer reps at LMC. So a '69 kit would come with 4 fuzzies? And a '72 kit is supposed to come with 2 fuzzies and 2 rubbers?

I'll take a look at my 71 tomorrow, and report back on what it has.

Confirming what others had posted.. The 67-70 trucks had fuzzies inside and out. The 71-72 trucks changed the outside fuzzies to rubber to better keep water out of the door. But the inside still had fuzzies. So your original order was correct and now you have an extra set for sometime down the road.

Thanks for all the help guys. I got the fuzzies on the insides now. I almost feel bad about getting LMC to send another set for free but then I remembered about all the thousands of dollars I've spent with them. When my dad's '70 F100 4x4 gets back from the paint shop I will through the extra set on his. FYI- going with Rootbeer Brown

can the rubber outside/fuzzy inside go on a '68? would it just mean minor modification to mounting holes?

I'd like to have the rubber to keep water out of my door, spending the last 20 years with no seal whatsoever has done enough damage already.

They will install just fine. They certainly did on my '69 door.
