Jute blocks in cab roof?

Post by sargentrs »

When I stripped my cab I discovered thick blocks of what appeared to be some kind of jute insulation. What was the purpose for these? Should I replace them? Where can you find 2" thick blocks of jute? Any comments would be helpful. Thanks!

Where did you find the jute in your cab roof, corners? I have had my interior down to bare bones, no jute (or anything looking like it).

There were blocks about 4" long shoved up in all 4 corners and pieces about a foot long shoved in the crevice above both windows. Had to pry 'em out with a screwdriver.

I have no clue. In all the projects I've seen on the forum, no one else has ever mentioned it before. So I guess its no big deal then. Thanks.

Probably for noise reduction. Been in a lot of bumps and never seen it but that doesn't mean a drunk line worker didn't add an extra option on the package.

I had those blocks up in the corners of my Crew cab as well. I am planning on using Zillamat on the roof of my truck, so I will probably not replace the "jute blocks". Like you, I have no idea what they were there for...

There is a new sound mat out there you should try. It's called Pinchematt...

Yeah, I would have gone that route, but I bought the Zillamat about a year ago and it is up in the rafters along with all my other truck parts while I wait for my truck to get back from paint. Pinchematte did not come out until recently. :D
