Mustang bucket seat bracket mtg - which holes?

Post by sargentrs »

Designing my own seat frame and have a question about mounting. The bench seat bolts to the floor with 4 bolts on each side. The Mustang bucket seat outer brackets only use two bolts. Which two holes, in the floor, to the bolt in, the inner or the outer? I'm thinking outer, right?

Upon further review, unless someone knows otherwise, I have deduced that the brackets bolt into the outer holes. With that in mind, I'm thinking something like this. Opinions, suggestions, criticism?

 I know. That's where I got the dimensions to lay it all out. Basically redrew the brackets in TurboCad and overlaid them with angle iron using the cab floor as the template for the bottom frame and the seat brackets, and seats, as the template for the seat mount frames.

There are dimples in the cab floor that show where to drill to mount the brackets. There was a picture on this site somewhere, but I can't find it now.

Yep, I figured that out. If you look at the outer bracket, you can see the notch to clear that dimple. The dimension from the outer hole in the floor to the edge of the slope matches up to the dimension of the joggle on the bottom of the bracket.

Still in the "planning" phase  I do have my drawings made and a source/quote on the angle iron. $38 for 40ft of angle. Just gotta get it and then spend my lunch at work in the saw/weld shop. :D

I've said it before, once I learned how to weld I never looked at metal the same way again. I'm darn near king of the hill when it comes to alternative sources of materials!
