Re: Kick Panels
I read on here earlier that none of these trucks came factory with kick panel covers, plastic or otherwise. Today I welded in some floor patches & the bottom of my kickpanel so it looks pretty ugly. Its just a shop truck so Im not gonna sand it & put body filler, etc.. but I do want to cover them up.
Theres a guy on ebay that sales some kick ass looking door panels & kick panels in a set for $114. Looks like he used to sale them for $100 but had to up the price due to increased material cost maybe.
Has anyone ever bought these? I think they look nice & since I want some clean, sleek looking door panels also, I think this is a pretty good deal. I mean, I may be able to make something for less, but not much less & wont look near this good, plus I'd have to do it Heres the link. I want black so heres the ones I'm thinking about getting

Re: Kick Panels
I saw that set on ebay a while back, but it doesn't look like kick panels to me in the pictures, it looks like panels for the lower doors. I'd like to see better pics of how those are supposed to install. My kick panels are nice now and I don't need them now, but I'd like to know for the future.

Re: Kick Panels
I contacted the seller and he said that those "kick panels" were intended for the bottom of the doors and were installed with sheet metal screws. Seems like a waste to me, the panels look ok by themselves without an overlay like that. He said he would try his hand at cab pillar kick panels and let me know if he got it worked out. We'll just wait and see.

Thats funny, Sarge. I contacted him too & he said the same thing. Maybe now that 2 of us have requested or showed interest at the same time he will.sargentrs wrote:I contacted the seller and he said that those "kick panels" were intended for the bottom of the doors and were installed with sheet metal screws. He told me he made his panels from some material he got at lowes. I asked him if it was the same stuff pegboard was made of & he said he was pretty sure it was he just couldnt remember the name off the top of his head.
I agree 100% with you, bottoms of the doors look great the way they are. & they make patch panels that you can do a good job if they have rust in them. Now the actual "kick panels" that I'm referring to on the other hand, they are easy to patch with just a piece of sheetmetal but they dont look very good & its a hard place to get into & grind, sand, & work with body filler. So I will probably just get me some board at Lowes & some black vinyl & make some.
What is the name of that stuff that pegboard is made of? Also I saw a guy on here making a headliner out of some stuff from lowes that you use around the shower, can be heated & bent. You reckon that stuff would work better? Not that kickpanels need bent but it just might be stronger.
I dont know, I've been cutting rust out of this thing all day & I'm getting overwhelmed. The truck isnt really rusty, just enough in enough spots to be a *itch to someone like me who isnt that great at metalwork, bodywork, or welding for that matter. I know just enough about bodywork to be dangerous!

Great minds think alike! I told hm to let me know and "I'll tell the guys on the forum". Hopefully he has access to a bump and takes into consideration a cutout for the fresh air vent.Bryan_Tenn wrote:sargentrs wrote: Thats funny, Sarge. I contacted him too & he said the same thing. Re: Kick Panels
How do you like them, or have you got them yet?
They look good in pictures, but I actually found a 72 F350 wrecker a couple hours from me on craigs being parted out & went & got a bunch of parts yesterday for a great price.
It being a wrecker meant it wasnt used everyday so asses hadnt slid across the seat a million times, the bench was in excellent condition & was the color I wanted to change my interior over to. The door panels are metal & the armrests are like new so I snagged them also.
Still need to do something about the kick panels, I was thinking about just cutting some carpet to put there, from the floor up to the vents.
We will see what this guy on ebay comes up with

The door panels are really nice and really affordable. I just ordered the headliner and should have it in a few days.

Re: Kick Panels
I painted mine with the lizard skin I mixed up and the texture looks good (plus it insulates). I have some stainless waffle pattern metal I was going to install but it's too far down on my list of priorities.
