No heater controls
Ok bump experts. I have a guy calling his truck a '71 but everything says '67. I think they just put a '71 title and tag on a '67. I asked for pics of the heater controls and there are none. I know in the 50s and earlier cars built for the south came with no heaters. Was this a possible on a bump? If so what years was it possible?

Re: No heater controls
I believe in 67, you could get the truck 3 ways... no heater, basic heater (1 knob), and deluxe heat (3 knobs). I could be wrong, but that is what I remember reading somewhere.... Possibly here.

Re: No heater controls
From what I understand in 67 models some came with no heater controls. You had to reach under the dash and control the heater box flapper. If this is correct this cab and dashboard setup is very rare. Keep us up to date.

Re: No heater controls
Is there a knob to the left of the choke? That would be the heater control for a basic heater, where you have to reach under the dash to flip the defrost door. And there would be no knobs underneath the radio (or radio delete plate).
My 67 owner's manual does not mention a no-heater possibility, but if you bought a truck in 1967 without a heater you probably did not get a manual anyway!

Re: No heater controls
My truck is a '67 with the economy heater and it has 1 knob below the instrument cluster which you turn clockwise for the fan, 1 click for low, 2 for high. You pull the knob out like a choke for heat. To switch between defrost and floor, you move the lever on the heater box. There are no holes or knobs below the radio at all.

Re: No heater controls
Never had a '67 but I could see where that might be an interesting part to locate and replace! (Yep, 60 bucks at LMC.) A switch with a heater valve cable control knob? I mean, really, how much less of a pain would it have been to have the switch and the valve control separate? It's not like they were cramped for dash space! You gotta wonder what those whacky engineers were thinking. But, that decision pales in comparison to the impractical placement of the blower motor on '73 trucks with integral air.chad67 wrote:My truck is a '67 with the economy heater and it has 1 knob below the instrument cluster which you turn clockwise for the fan, 1 click for low, 2 for high. Re: No heater controls
All the 67s I have owned all had the 3 knobs in the center of dash below the radio . I had 6 so far.

My 67 does not have any knobs beneath the radio. I am glad I found this post. I was just about to ask a question about thisdaveford72 wrote:All the 67s I have owned all had the 3 knobs in the center of dash below the radio . I had 6 so far.

Mine was the only one I had ever seen, until I went to a junkyard in the sticks and saw 5.

Re: No heater controls
we just bought a '67 parts truck here in Texas. It has an untouched complete dash with all three controls. it has one of the cleanest complete dash assemblies I have seen in years.

This thread is for stang1986gt. Your heater set-up is legit - and simpler!
