Firewall insulation pad
I've use the PVC version in the past...
Anyone using this? Looks to be more like original.

Re: Firewall insulation pad
My initial response was "WOW, what a steal!" and reached for purchase button. Something didn't sit right with me though so I went searching. Here's my concerns. The top 2 pics show the front and back of the Ebay pad. The bottom pic shows one from Mac's. The Ebay one has cutouts on the left side that would expose the firewall to the right of the brake pedal assy. However, it appears that it's the correct shape and size, looking at the Mac's, if you were to remove the section at the wiper motor bracket. Also, the area at the tranny hump, on the truck, protrudes inward but the Ebay pad is totally flat and the jute goes all the way across in one solid piece. I'm concerned it would conform well to the hump and shorten the sides making it fit. The Ebay pad has a removable cutout in the correct shape, on the right, for the factory under dash a/c unit, the Mac's doesn't and would have to be cut out. Somebody please, oh PLEASE, tell me I'm just being paranoid, it'll work just fine, and I can get a firewall pad for $50!

Re: Firewall insulation pad
I don't think your being paranoid. I will also be ordering one before long and it would be nice for the price, but there is no way a flat cover is going to fit like it should over the hump and behind the heater.

Re: Firewall insulation pad
Looking at the bottom of it there appears to be a curvature to it. This would imply that the bottom is longer than the top. That would allow for some slack that would form around the hump.

Re: Firewall insulation pad
I liked the fit and all of the PVC but not the price..
Thinking another option would be carpet like the rangers had. Well my 72 did.
Never looked under it to see what was there. I'm thinking maybe Damplifier(http://store.secondskinaudio.com/dampli ... bulk-pack/ ) on everything. Then Heat wave( http://store.secondskinaudio.com/heat-wave-pro/ )for firewall and carpet over that??
I think I have left over heatwave from the cobra build, and planning to do rest of floors and such with the sound deadener anyway..
Thoughts??

I can't pass up a deal like that. I checked the seller's return policy and it says he'll accept returns in 30 days so I'm going for it. I'll let ya'll know how it fits when I get it next week.

Re: Firewall insulation pad
And the verdict is in! Ordered on Friday, received it today via USPS. Heavy gauge rubber, about 1/32" thick. 1/2" jute backing. Very flexible. Won't even have to let it sit in the sun before installation. All holes lined up perfectly. Enough slack on the bottom to conform to the hump. Perforated cutout for factory a/c unit like mine. The jute might could've used more adhesive but still holds well. Enough space along the bottom, about 1-1/2", to tuck the carpet under. Comes with push in barbed retainers. All in all I give it a thumbs up! Came from Restorite Auto Parts in Tioga, TX.

Re: Firewall insulation pad
Sorry, no pics., but it looked exactly like the pics on Ebay. Not ready for installation yet and, like I said, it's VERY flexible. I had to hold up one side, mated to the firewall hole for the main harness, then "walk" across it with my hands holding it up, to the other side to mate up to the stock heater core holes. Then "walk" back to the center and hold it up with one hand, the ends flopping back down in the floor boards, and test fit it over the tranny hump. I needed 2 extra hands to be able to take a pic and I was flying solo. However, it's going to fit very well. Seems to me to be more like the original instead of the newer ABS based that the other vendors sell.

Re: Firewall insulation pad
That's the reason I like it over the abs (aka) plastic look...
Thanks for being the test pilot...
I'm still a way's out from needing one but going to keep it in my watch list and grab one on the next round. (hopefully...)

Re: Firewall insulation pad
Makes me jealous:( I already spent the money for an abs one and I'm not too thrilled about the fitment for the money. It is a really good fit, just not perfect and it's expensive. The insulation on the back crushes and doesn't return to full thickness either. I wish I would have been able to try one of these first. Good information though!

Re: Firewall insulation pad
I also already bought the ABS one and have it sitting with my other parts for installation when I get my truck back. I really could have spent the extra money on other parts and been perfectly happy with the $40 option. However, CNM67 needs a new cover, so I went ahead and emailed the vendor to see if he will be restocking them anytime soon, and if not, if he can point us in the direction where they can be purchased elsewhere. I will post whatever he replies.

I emailed the seller and he said he has more on order from the manufacturer. He said it should be a few weeks but he will have more listed on ebay in the near future.
