Folks,
Totally random question here. One of the PO's of my 71 F100 kept or lost the tire iron. I have a lovely replacement, but I don't know where it was stored on my truck. Where is the original Ford storage location for the tire iron?
Thanks,
Duane

Re: Tire Iron Storage?
The tire iron was stored next to the jack on the driver's side inner fender. At least that's where mine was. Slid right next to the jack, under the same bracket. The long "turning rod" for the jack was stored behind the seat. Slide the seat forward. You'll see two threaded studs sticking up from the floor, about 1" inch high. There were two U shaped clamps that slid over those and tightened down with wing nuts.

My 72 had little spring clip brackets under the seat. You can sort of see them in this pic. I thought I had a better pic but can't find it. I had posted one years ago asking what they were after removing my seat to repair the floor pans.

Re: Tire Iron Storage?
Both my 72 and my 69 stored the tire iron under the seat in some clips that were fastened to the floor. The long rod for the jack sat in 2 clips fastened above the gas tank and the "handle" portion of the rod hung down and rested on the gas tank. Both my 72 and 69 have these same clips as well.
Basically, I think there were different setups on different trucks. Possibly could have been where ever the dealership put the clips and stored the items. I don't believe the trucks came with these parts from the factory and the dealerships just had them in stock for when they received the trucks. The only consistent location I have seen in the jack being stored under the hood.

Is this a better picture? This one still had the seat belts placed just like when it came from the dealer. Sitting in a barn since the early 80's.
