Making kick panels

I had to weld some patches on my kick panels so they arent smooth & dont want to go through the trouble of doing body work under the vents on both sides.

I think some 80's trucks which have a similar trim line around that area used plastic kick panels, i think anyway.

Has anyone ever modified them to work on ours? Or has anyone made custom ones out of door panel material, fiberglass, etc...?

I'm gonna make a set just wondering if later model truck ones would be easier to modify to work than make a set from scratch
