Gear Selector Start Switch

Post by Subzero »

The gear selection switch on the f100 seems to be very touchy lately. When in park, you sometimes have to move the shifter around some to allow the truck to be able to start or else the safety switch will prevent it from starting. it's becoming progressively worse and I want to take care of it before it becomes a larger problem. I figure it's just worn out or something from time. How hard is this to replace or is it adjustable? Where can I find parts? Thanks

Ots near floor on top of the column. It has ywo 5/16 head screws that hold it onto the column. Loosen them to adjust it. Or remove them to replace it. It has a wiring plug coming off of it to unplug.. if replacing. Watch out that maybe the acutating tang isnt getting weak. Or slightly bending.
If u take it off. U can move it back and forth rapidly to kind of clean it out.
