Dont do what I did

Post by dave1972 »

I had the drivers side vent assembly soaking in hot soapy water (liquid dish soap) and got distracted for about three days. There was about two inches of the black plastic not submerged in the soapy water. When I came back to the project and pulled it out of the bucket, I found that where the plastic was submerged had faded to a dull grey. It is not rubbing out or resuming its original black so far. Any suggestions would be appreciated. DONT REPEAT THIS PROCESS FOR CLAENING YOUR PLASTIC PARTS!!!

The glass seal or the window seal? The glass seal is cheap. The wing window seal isnt. You could detail paint the whole piece of plastic.

:yt: Liquid black shoe polish, in the bottle with the foam pad on the end. Works on any black rubber or plastic. I've used it to refurb entire black plastic bumpers and side molding. Will also keep your tires looking shiny and black a lot longer than those "Tire Wet" sprays.
