My surprise after pulling out the rubber mat. We don't see much more than surface rust here in Arizona on our trucks. Even more perplexing it rusted from the inside out :? Looking for some advice where to get good quality floors pans.

The rubber mat traps moisture.
While it's apart look for water leaks from under the cowl or the windsheild.

I know the heater core was leaking according to last owner. He disconnected it. Doesn't explain the drivers side though. I guess Iwill have to check for leaks.

Does the truck have power or manual brakes? The master cylinder on a manual brake truck can leak behind the firewall, under your floor mat and onto your floor plan. I am assuming that would be a mixture that would eat away at a floor plan.

Mine was leaking badly from the spot the wiper motor penetrated the firewall. Gasket had deteriorated badly and it would pour in during a rain.

My 67 was leaking badly from around the wiper pivot shaft gaskets, when I pulled them off the gaskets were rotten.

It is a Manual but, I haven't seen any fluid. The rubber in the floor for the clutch rod is rotting away though. That could be it but I am thinking it is something else. Sounds like I will be playing with the water hose this weekend. I haven't noticed any leaks before but, since we don't get much rain in Arizona that may have something to do with it! Lol

form a guy up in Camp Verde, fairly mild climate. I don't think they're salting any roads up there.
