Defrost ducts in factory AC

Post by sargentrs »

Rebuilding my AC box and it looks like I'm missing the ducts for the defrost vent hoses. Two large holes in the top of the case. Anybody got a part number or photo showing what's supposed to be in there?

Looks like a pair of ringy thingies that the hose slips over. Methinks the hose is gonna be a PITA to source. What's the ID? Hopefully it's the same at both ends.

Big RV's or school buses use larger hoses.

Thanks, Jamie. Yeah, that diagram has served me well during my AC rebuild. However, I was hoping to find a better pic of those "rings". Something that would show me the design. I've been able to find some woodworking dust collector stuff that I can mod and make work but I something about it just isn't sitting right with me and I can't put my finger on it. Here's what I've found, just not sure if it's going to be efficient.

That should work, especially considering how restrictive the OEM stuff is around the ash tray. I wonder if you could just grab another set up dash end hose connections and repurpose them?

The factory ac ducts fit inside those holes, you are not missing an "adapter" . It may be easier to make something than to find factory hoses though.

Sounds like your problems might be solved by now, but just in case. You should be able to get all of the original factory components of the heating/ac system from LMC Truck. They are proud of their stuff though. Good luck!

Thanks, Wilfred! I've already replaced all the switches, heater core, seals and gaskets with new parts. I'll replace the expansion valve when I get ready to install it. The evaporator core turned out good with no leaks.
