i just ran out of dynatape and ordered more. it's expensive and doesn't go very far. i stumbled on some hvac tape that I had stowed away and forgot about right after i ordered the dyna. it looks like the same crap... tell me it's not as good and dynatape is better because it has the letters dyna on it... and the hvac roll that i have is like 6 rolls of dynatape
IS DYNATAPE A SCAM? - i'm thinking so

I used that aluminum HVAC tape.. it's an acceptable alternative IMO.

that's all i needed to hear. I'll never buy dynatape again.HIO Silver wrote:I used that aluminum HVAC tape.. it's an acceptable alternative IMO.
i'm already using fatmat instead of dynamat. it's not quite as sticky but half the cost and easier to work with in my opinion.

I picked up a box of Summit's house-branded liner and what arrived is branded Hushmat. Decent stuff at a competitive price point.hedz wrote:that's all i needed to hear. I'll never buy dynatape again.HIO Silver wrote:I used that aluminum HVAC tape.. it's an acceptable alternative IMO.

HVAC tape will withstand greater temperature and pressure extremes by design, my money would be on it and I'd put the new found savings in my mods piggy bank!

If you use HVAC "mastic' type tape, you will not be disappointed. You better want it where you put it, it gets more sticky with every heat cycle.

Btw, I figured with as shiny as the aluminum HVAC tape is, I lined the insides of the tail light and turn signal housings to improve light reflectivity and light transmission..... waaaay better than the plain ol' silver paint from the factory.
Try it... do one side and and then compare.... you'll see the difference.
